U.S. Rep. Eli Crane (R-AZ-02) is encouraging Arizona students, parents, coaches and school counselors to log on April 18 for a Virtual Service Academy Day hosted by the Arizona delegation.
The online seminar is set for 10 a.m. to noon MST on Zoom and will provide an overview of the application process for the nation’s service academies.
Students may also apply for a congressional nomination for appointment to four of the five U.S. service academies: the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs and the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy in Kings Point.
The U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London does not require a congressional nomination.
Attending a service academy comes with a minimum five-year military service commitment after graduation.
“If you’re a student in Arizona and interested in attending a U.S. Service Academy, I encourage you to join tomorrow’s Virtual Service Academy Day,” Crane said. “The online seminar will provide important details about the application process.
“Additionally, my office may nominate up to 15 individuals for each vacant academy slot allotted to our district. All students are welcome to apply, and it’s an honor to help with the process.”
