ASU’s Office for Veteran and Military Academic Engagement announces upcoming events

PHOENIX, AZ – The Office for Veteran and Military Academic Engagement (OVMAE) at Arizona State University (ASU) is excited to host a series of events aimed at empowering veterans and providing valuable resources for their continued success. Veterans, active military personnel, and community members are invited to participate in these events to connect, learn, and engage with veteran support networks.

Veterans Voices Panel Discussion
Date: Tuesday, September 10, 2024 | Time: 3:00 PM (Virtual)
This panel discussion will feature veterans sharing their experiences of continued community service through civic engagement. Hear from local leaders making a difference:

  • Jessica Roza – Legislative Liaison and Founder of West Valley Women Veterans
  • Terry Araman – Veteran Advisory Council Member
  • Gary Streeter – Volunteer Coordinator, The Mission Continues
  • Matt Kenney – Arizona Lead, Vet the Vote
  • Francisco Pedraza – Co-Director, ASU Center for Latinas/os and American Politics Research
    The session will be moderated by Frank Mons.

 

Virtual Poetry Workshop
Date: Thursday, September 26, 2024 | Time: 5:00 PM (Virtual)
This creative space offers veterans an opportunity to explore and express their experiences through poetry in a supportive environment. The workshop encourages creativity and emotional exploration through guided activities.

Workforce Resources Roundtable
Date: Tuesday, October 1, 2024 | Time: TBD (In-Person)
For veterans seeking employment or career transitions, this roundtable offers invaluable insights into workforce trends, resume building, interview preparation, and networking opportunities. Representatives from state and federal government agencies, non-profits, and veteran support organizations will be present to provide guidance and resources.

All events are free, but registration is required to secure your spot. Veterans and community members are encouraged to share these events with others who may benefit.
