Feb. 27 marked a monumental milestone for the Kingman community and the veterans of Mohave County. The grand opening and ribbon cutting of the JAVC Veterans Center at 315 E. Oak St. was celebrated with strong community support and an impressive showing of local and national leadership.
In attendance were Mohave County Supervisor Travis Lingenfelter, Kingman City Councilmember Smiley Ward, Congressman Paul Gosar, Kingman Area Chamber of Commerce CEO Becky Fawson, along with many other dignitaries, community partners and supporters who recognized the importance of the moment.
The JAVC Veterans Center is now fully operational, serving as a centralized hub for veteran-focused programs designed to meet veterans where they are and guide them toward long-term stability and success. Among those programs is Operation 6, JAVC’s transitional housing initiative. Since its reopening in December, Operation 6 has welcomed veterans back into a structured and supportive environment that promotes accountability, dignity and forward momentum. With full staffing and 24/7 security, the program ensures a safe, stable setting for veterans working to rebuild their lives.
The Veterans Center stands as the physical and operational heart of JAVC’s broader mission — bringing together housing, outreach, peer support, transportation and community-based services under one roof. This integrated approach strengthens outcomes and reinforces a coordinated support system for veterans across Mohave County.
What was once a building slated for demolition has been transformed into a place of healing and hope.
