‘NAVAHCS hosts remembrance ceremony, prepares for veteran events’

Prescott, AZ — The Northern Arizona VA Health Care System (NAVAHCS) shares recent highlights and plans for upcoming activities that support Veterans throughout the region. Below is a summary of recent gatherings and future events.

Honoring Veterans with a Remembrance Ceremony

NAVAHCS recently hosted a POW/MIA Remembrance Ceremony on National POW/MIA Recognition Day. The event featured Col. Ronald Byrne, a Vietnam War POW for nearly eight years, who shared his moving story. With support from American Legion Post 108, the event emphasized the importance of honoring service members.

Community Initiatives for Veterans

  • Support through Stamp Donation: American Legion Post 108 donated 800 stamps, which will be used by Veterans in the Domiciliary to stay connected with loved ones during the holidays.
  • Recovery Month Celebrations: NAVAHCS recognized Recovery Month, emphasizing evidence-based treatment and the resilience of those in recovery. The celebration honored both service providers and the recovery community.
  • Veteran Stand Down Events: NAVAHCS participated in two stand-downs in September:
    • Williams Stand Down: The 5th Annual Matthew J. Broehm Memorial Stand Down offered resources to about 64 Veterans.
