World War II play showcases ASU Salute to Service

MESA, Ariz. – Arizona State University (ASU) invites the community to experience From Tidworth With Love, a moving World War II play presented as part of ASU’s Salute to Service events. Hosted by ASU’s College of Integrative Sciences and Arts and the Office for Veteran and Military Academic Engagement, this production shares the story of Bill Barker, an Army soldier, and Mary Giambrone, a nursing student, through the letters they exchanged during World War II. Written by David Barker to honor his parents, the play celebrates themes of service, sacrifice, and love.

Attend a World War II play during ASU’s Salute to Service

ASU will host this World War II play at the Aravaipa Auditorium on its Polytechnic campus, which is located at the site of the former Williams Field Air Base:

Both performances take place at Aravaipa Auditorium, 7211 E. Sonoran Arroyo Mall, Mesa, AZ 85212. Tickets cost $15 for general admission and $5 for students. Additionally, free parking is available for all attendees. Furthermore, guests can explore a pop-up museum featuring World War II artifacts, which offers a deeper understanding of the era.

David Barker, the playwright, expressed his enthusiasm: “We are honored to bring this World War II story to the community. It’s a tribute to my parents and all those who served during the war.”
